Management of the saskdocs.ca brand was transferred from the Saskatchewan Health Authority to the Saskatchewan Healthcare Recruitment Agency in fall 2024.
In 2022, the Government of Saskatchewan announced the Health Human Resources (HHR) Action Plan. A result of the plan was the establishment of the Saskatchewan Healthcare Recruitment Agency dedicated to the recruitment and retention of health professionals from within Saskatchewan, across North America and overseas.
In July 2018 the Physician Recruitment Agency of Saskatchewan (PRAS) and the saskdocs.ca brand transitioned to be a part of the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
PRAS operated as a treasury board crown and was governed by an eleven member Board of Directors.
The formation of PRAS was a result of the Ministry of Health announcing a physician recruitment strategy for the province of Saskatchewan in 2009 and became operational in 2010.
In 2014, the Ministry of Health transferred operational control and resources of Health Careers in Sask to PRAS, which focused on the recruitment of other health providers.
