Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority NE, Prince Albert Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology requires locum services to start as soon as possible to September, 2024.

The successful candidate will be offered help to join an existing OBGYN office in the city with EMR and secretarial help.

Call coverage is shared with a very patient-centered and cooperative call group of 6 Physicians within the specialty and an on-call premium is provided for on-call availability.

The Victoria Hospital is a regional level hospital with complete range of OBGYN services including high risk obstetrics with nursery cover for babies born over 34 weeks, minimal access gynecology surgery, ambulatory day care services including Colposcopy and we have an active teaching program with medical students, family med and obgyn residents. We do about 1500 deliveries a year with about 1/2 the deliveries done by family medicine. The hospital has 28 obstetrical beds.

Job Qualifications

Successful candidates will hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) in Obstetrics and Gynecology and be eligible for regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) to practice in Saskatchewan.

This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.

The Victoria Hospital is a regional hospital with 99 acute care beds which includes an 8 bed intensive care unit that provides services to a population of 80,000 including northern and northeastern Saskatchewan.

Community Description

Prince Albert is the 3rd largest city in Saskatchewan with a population of 39,737. Located in the broad valley of the North Saskatchewan River, near the geographical center of the province where the agricultural prairie of the south and the rich forest belt of the north meet. Highways 2, 11, 55, 302 and 3 all connect in Prince Albert. Within an hour’s drive, you will enjoy lakes, golf courses, ski trails, great fishing, hunting and other recreational opportunities.
