Job Description

The Regina Area with the Saskatchewan Health Authority has a wonderful opportunity for a locum part-time or full-time General Internal Medicine specialist in a community based, fee-for-service practice to provide service to a large referral base comprising Regina and southern Saskatchewan and to build a busy practice in an up to date setting. The area and division are committed to assisting our members to achieve a balanced lifestyle.

The specialist will join our team of internal medicine specialists. They will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team providing a wide scope of internal medicine services for the growing population of Regina and southern Saskatchewan.

Our internists have admitting and consulting privileges and provide service at our two acute care sites (Regina General Hospital and Pasqua Hospital). The Pasqua Hospital, a community-based hospital and referral center, specializes in Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery and Urology. The Regina General Hospital, our trauma center represents all major surgical specialties, except transplant and is home to our Medical Teaching Unit.

Call coverage is a requirement for the position. In addition to fee-for-service, you would be eligible for any on-call retainer consistent with the Specialist Emergency Coverage Program (SECP).

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. The University of Saskatchewan is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training. The Department of Medicine has distributed training sites in Saskatoon and Regina.

Job Qualifications

Successful candidates for the above position will hold certification or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) (RCPSC) and be eligible for provisional or regular licensure to practice in Saskatchewan. Preference will be given to candidates with RCPSC designation in General Internal Medicine.

This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
