Call Schedule Description:
This position is complemented by a rotation of family physicians in providing on-site coverage in the Emergency Department on a 24 hour, 7 day-a-week basis. On call worked and scheduled is communicated as per the call roster. Complement of 8 PHC physicians.

Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking one Fee for Service family physician to provide physician services in the Parkland Integrated Health Centre and the Shellbrook Primary Health Care Centre located in the Town of Shellbrook. Nestled in the heart of Saskatchewan's parkland, Shellbrook is a dynamic and growing community with more than 1,400 inhabitants as well as another 9000 rural and seasonal summer lake county residents in the business catchment area. The Town and Rural surroundings have experienced both population and business growth in the last few years.

Shellbrook amenities include a Golf Course, Skating and Curling Rinks, Minor Sports Programs, an outdoor Swimming pool, Theater, several Community Halls and Parks, a strong retail sector and K to 12 Education. There are numerous Regional and Provincial Parks nearby as well as the Prince Albert National Park.

Shellbrook is home to an integrated health care facility that opened in 2013. The Parkland Integrated Health Centre houses a 24-hour emergency room, a long-term care facility and a range of community-based and allied health care services which includes Home Care, Public Health, Dietician services as well as Therapies.

Job Duties:

Examine patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures, Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health, Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, Provide pre-natal and post-natal care, Advise patients on health care, Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases to government authorities, Communicate health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention to patients, Perform patient advocacy role, Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues, Provide emergency care, Participate on institutional committees.
