4 step primary health care compensation grid for 220 (1.0 FTE) clinic days per year excluding weekends and statutory holidays. The number of days on call is in addition to the 220 days of clinic services.

Call Schedule Description:
24 hour on call emergency coverage is required for the Arcola emergency room, hospital in-patients, home care and long term care residents as well as critical lab values. At present, the on call responsibilities are shared equitably amongst physicians in the community.

Job Description

The successful incumbent will provide family medicine physician services in a collaborative Primary Health Care setting to the residents of Carlyle and surrounding communities. Work will include clinic, ER call, LTC rounds, and hospital procedures as permitted.

Clinic is Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day. Emergency call at the Arcola Health Centre (18km from Carlyle) will be shared amongst Arcola and Carlyle physicians on approximately a 1:5 rotation. Language of Work is English. Occasional travel may be required.

Relocation Package

The successful candidate may be eligible for:

  • The Rural Physician Incentive Program (RPIP) which provides up to $200,000 over five years to family physicians practicing, or returning to practice, in rural and remote communities in Saskatchewan
  • The SMA Retention Fund, which provides financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $3,500 - $7,000

Job Qualifications

  • Certified or eligible to be certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Regular or Provisional License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) (or eligible to be licensed)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Recommended - Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Successful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector
  • Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada

    Community Description

    Carlyle is a small town in Southeastern Saskatchewan. Estevan and Weyburn are the closest cities and both are over 100 kilometres away. Regina, the provincial capital, lies 200 km to the north-west. The town is 24 km (15 mi) south of Moose Mountain Provincial Park. This park provides an ideal location for visitors to enjoy camping, swimming, boating, golf, tennis and daily programs. An extensive trail system for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling also runs throughout the park.
