Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a physician for the position of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Associate Medical Director - Central. Reporting in a dyad model to the Director, EMS-Central and the Provincial EMS Medical Director, the Associate Medical Director will provide oversight and specific activities that assist in or lead EMS quality improvement and quality assurance, enhance value, provide quality planning and strategic planning to continuously improve EMS including but not limited to overseeing the provision of both clinical and educational support as a resource person and advocate to all provincial EMS; oversight of reviews, recommendations and collaborative work to standardize and advance procedures and protocols related to the clinical care for EMS; provide advice and direction on all clinical developmental aspects of EMS; and participate in EMS related advisory committees on the development of any new programs as requested.

The Associate Medical Director will also act as a liaison between SHA EMS teams and the local medical staff, Medical First Responders, the Advanced/Basic life support staff, hospital and ground/air ambulance services, partner public safety agencies, media (as required) and the Ministry of Health..

Job Qualifications

Candidates in consideration will hold the designation of FRCPC-EM, CCFP-EM or ABEM, will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.  Candidates must also currently practice Emergency Medicine or Critical Care medicine.
