Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate pediatrician to join a well-established, team-based practice in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to provide a broad scope of practice including clinic-based care, in-patient hospital responsibilities, and emergency on-call. Yorkton Regional Health Centre is the only regional hospital in the southeast which means pediatricians see a wide range of cases without the congestion of a large urban center.

The pediatric team is supported by a broad range of services including pediatric therapies, autism spectrum disorder services, early childhood psychology, mental health, social work, dental services, and public health nursing. Strong connections with community-based supports such as KidsFirst and school-based programs ensure integrated, family-centered care.

Itinerant pediatric services may be required throughout the southeast portion of the province through on-site or telemedicine services.

Those currently in pediatric residency are encouraged to inquire about The Health Foundation of East Central Saskatchewan‘s “Resident Funding Program” in exchange for a return of service.

Yorkton offers a rewarding practice environment, community connection, and balanced lifestyle, ideal for pediatricians looking to make a meaningful impact in children’s health while enjoying a high quality of life.

Relocation Package

The successful candidate may be eligible for:

  • The Specialist Recruitment Incentive program, which provides $30,000 to an eligible specialist that establishes a practice for a minimum of thirty-six months in a Saskatchewan community.
  • The SMA Retention Fund, which provides financial rewards to physicians who practise in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 - $14,000 per year for full-time service.

Job Qualifications

  • Certified or eligible to be certified with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatrics
  • Regular or provisional licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (or eligible to be licensed)
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Successful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector
  • Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada.

Benefits

The Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA) provides members with various physician programs and benefits, each with its own criteria and features.

Additional Information

The SHA supports a shared commitment to a representative workforce that is respectful and inclusive of all staff and clients and welcomes applications from those who will contribute to the diversity of our community.
