Job Description

Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA)-Regina and University of Saskatchewan, Department of Psychiatry, seek a team-oriented Psychiatrist to be part of our dynamic and expanding provincial department. The successful candidate will provide services for Acute Inpatient Psychiatry, Consult Liaison Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry, and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). The position provides the psychiatrist with protected time for clinical, administrative, and academic duties.

This is an Academic Clinical Funding Plan (ACFP) position. The successful candidate will provide clinical and academic services as a member of the provincial Department of Psychiatry and will hold an appointment at the University of Saskatchewan at the assistant, associate, or full professor level. Clinical responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient care, associated call duties, and administrative contributions. Protected time for academic and administrative work is embedded within the role. Further details are available upon request.

The Regina Area with the SHA has a psychiatry residency training program, which is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents with the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan.

Call coverage provides for a balanced lifestyle as it is shared with all other psychiatrists in the department and is approximately once monthly.

Job Qualifications

  • Successful candidates will hold certification or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with RCPSC designation in psychiatry who have experience and training in consult liaison psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, and ECT

  • In addition, the successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.

  • Please note Psychiatrists interested in obtaining ECT certification/training will be considered, however, preference will be given to candidates who have completed the training requirements of the CPSS.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA. A vulnerable sector check (VSC) is required for individuals providing patient/resident/client care to vulnerable persons.
