Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) invites applications for team-oriented and professional Emergency Medicine Physicians to provide coverage in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Our physicians provide coverage for all shifts in an established rotation that averages 32 hours per week. Emergency services are provided 24/7 at two sites within Regina; the Pasqua Hospital which is a 218 bed community facility and the Regina General Hospital which has 403 beds and is the trauma center for southern Saskatchewan. Both sites are fully supported with sub-specialty coverage including 3 CT scanners and 2 MRI's.

The SHA is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. The University of Saskatchewan is a research-intensive institution with 26,000 students and 6,500 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training. The Department of Family Medicine has distributed training sites in Saskatoon and Regina (https://medicine.usask.ca/department/clinical/family-medicine.php).

Relocation Package

This position may qualify for the Emergency Medicine Recruitment and Retention Incentive of up to $200,000.

Additionally, Emergency Medicine residents can access $30,000 bursaries in years 4 and 5 of residency (for a total of $60,000) by signing a Letter of Offer and committing to a two-year Return of Service Agreement.

Job Qualifications

  • The candidate will be EM certified with CCFP-EM, ABEM or FRCPC–EM and be eligible for regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS). 

  • This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to the provision of high-quality patient and family-centered care.
  • In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
  • The successful applicant is expected to participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Department of Emergency Medicine in the Regina Area.
