Job Description

We are seeking team-orientated and highly skilled Anesthesiologists to provide locum services in Regina, Saskatchewan. This position has the potential to transition into a permanent full-time role.

The Department of Anesthesiology has an excellent complement of specialist Anesthesiologists with diverse interests. The successful candidates will join our team to provide comprehensive anesthesiology service to the patients of southern Saskatchewan.

Our services are shared between two sites. The Regina General Hospital is our trauma center representing all major surgical specialties, except transplant. Our Anesthesiologists provide full obstetric service. The Pasqua Hospital is a community hospital and referral center specializing in Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Urology and Pediatric Oncology.

Elective OR runs from 07:45 to 16:00hrs. Capacity is managed to allow for reduced OR theatres during holiday periods, allowing physicians and staff greater vacation opportunities. Call is 1:5 to 1:6 depending on holiday requests.

The University of Saskatchewan is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training. The Department of Anesthesiology has distributed training sites in Saskatoon and Regina.

Job Qualifications

  • Candidate should be team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

  • The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA. A vulnerable sector check (VSC) is required for individuals providing patient/resident/client care to vulnerable persons.
