Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority - Regina Area is seeking Psychiatrists to provide Sessional Clinical Service for adult patients as part of Mental Health and Addiction Services at the Mental Health Clinic, Regina.

The Department of Psychiatry is in a position to offer full time or sessional work at the Regina Mental Health Clinic, with options for either a contract or blended billing model, including fee for service and stipend payment system. The sessions are to provide input to adult patients who present with complex mental health issues and /or addiction issues as well as severely and/or persistently mentally ill patients. Office facility and admin support for sessions will be provided by the SHA. Overhead costs and payment for sessions will be determined by the base funding model chosen by the psychiatrist who joins the team and overhead costs borne by the psychiatrist elsewhere. Sessions can be shared between psychiatrists if desired. Session time allocation will be part of ongoing review, as patients and service needs vary.

Psychiatrists are expected to work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams such as hospital psychiatrists for patients who might require hospital care, as well as other psychiatrists working with COAST, Rapid Access Team, addiction treatment centres, etc. The multi-disciplinary teams consist of social workers, psychiatric nurses, psychologists and addiction counsellors.

Job Qualifications

Successful candidates will hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry and be eligible for or hold regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan to practice in Saskatchewan.


This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family cantered care.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA.
