Method of Payment Description:
4-step primary health care compensation grid for a 1.0 FTE position inclusive of 220 clinic days per year and on-call requirements.
Call Schedule Description:
24-hour on-call coverage is required for home care and long-term care residents, as well as for critical lab values. Currently, the on-call responsibilities are shared equitably among physicians in the community.

Job Description

The community of Yorkton is seeking family physicians to join the primary health care team. These positions provide an opportunity to practice Primary Care within an innovative, multi-disciplinary team setting. As a member of the clinic team, services provided include Primary Care, Long Term Care (including LTC rounds and call) and walk-in services. There is also an option to particiapte in addictions medicine, acute care (Emergency and Inpatient services), regional obstetrics support services, etc.  

The successful candidate must thrive in a collaborative team based setting and have a focus on continuous quality improvement with a goal of improving care and access for all clients. OAT services are available at this clinic and the successful applicant is encouraged to participate in the OAT program and obtain the necessary requirements to become a prescriber of buprenorphine/naloxone and methadone. It is also encouraged that the successful candidate participate as a part of the larger physician group to provide other regional services offered in Yorkton (i.e.obstetrics support services, ER coverage, Family Medicine Hospitalist, etc.) These other regional services are provided under seperate contracts and can be discussed further in the application process.

The physician must have the capacity to assume care of an already established practice if applicable.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the educational needs of medical students, residents, nursing staff and allied health professionals. Relocation Package

The successful candidate may be eligible for:

  • Relocation funding in exchange for a return of service, inquire for details
  • The SMA Retention Fund, which provides financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 - $14,000 per year for a full-time position 

Job Qualifications

  • Certified or eligible to be certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Regular or Provisional License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) (or eligible to be licensed)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Recommended - Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Completion of a methadone and/or buprenorphine/naloxone workshop/course recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSS) – or willing to complete is an asset
  • Valid driver's license
  • Successful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector
  • Current Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) coverage
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada (support to obtain a work permit is available)
