- ER call is divided into 12 hour shifts: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm and 8:00 pm - 8:00 am. Most Physicians cover on average 6 twelve-hour ER shifts per month. Obstetrics is optional and currently each Obstetrics provider covers on average 4 days per month. We strive to be a very flexible group, with some providers doing more ER call and some doing more clinic time based on their interests and strengths.
Job Description
We are currently looking for family physicians and family physicians with enhanced surgical skills/obstetrics/anesthesia who are interested in rural medicine to join the Meadow Lake physician group at the Meadow Lake Primary Health Care Centre.
We welcome new graduates to join us.
We are a collegial group of 14 full time equivalent (FTE) Physicians who have the privilege of working alongside several Nurse Practitioner colleagues in a multidisciplinary team based care environment.
We provide full scope family medicine including itinerant clinic services (Loon Lake, Goodsoil, Waterhen Lake First Nation, Canoe Lake Cree First Nation, Green Lake, Makwa Sahgiaiehcan First Nation, Ministikwan Lake Cree First Nation). We run a seven-day/week (weekday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm; weekends 8:00 am - 12:00 pm) hospitalist inpatient service.
The clinic is a primary care clinic supported by Medical Office Assistants, Billing Clerks, RN Case Managers, Chronic Disease Educators, Dietitian, Pharmacist and Mental Health Therapist. Visiting itinerant services include OBGYN, Otolaryngologist, Orthopedics, Surgery. We are blessed with an engaged community and a generous Hospital Foundation. As a result, we enjoy the benefits of up to date medical equipment in our modern hospital.
As a physician group we are engaged in community-based medical education for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. We are a longitudinal integrated clerkship site and are one of the top 3 rural education sites in terms of total number of students/teaching hours provided.
We are located 300 km northwest of Saskatoon. We are the northern-most surgical obstetrics site in the province. This is an opportunity to provide medicine to an underserved population. A few of our Physicians are engaged in global health opportunities and as a group we are very supportive of others doing the same. Outside of a rewarding medical practice you have the opportunity to enjoy a five-minute commute, many lakes and trails as well as endless opportunities for hunting, fishing and camping. Job Qualifications
The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) and have current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage.

Community Description
Meadow Lake is a city in the boreal forest of northwestern Saskatchewan. Its location is about 246 kilometres (153 mi) northeast of Lloydminster and 156 kilometres (97 mi) north of North Battleford. Meadow Lake is a thriving city consisting of a vast assortment of businesses, great schools, excellent health care and a variety of recreational opportunities such as the outdoor adventures available at St. Cyr Trails and Meadow Lake Provincial Park.
