Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking team-orientated and highly skilled Anesthesiologists and Family Physician-Anesthetists to provide locum services in the province of Saskatchewan.

The Department of Anesthesiology has an excellent complement of specialist Anesthesiologists with diverse interests and Family Physician-Anesthetists. The successful candidates will join our team to provide comprehensive anesthesiology service to the patients of Saskatchewan.

Locum Services may include on-call as well.

Job Qualifications

  • Successful candidate will be a Fellow (or be eligible for Fellowship) with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in anesthesiology or certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada in Anesthesia.
  • Candidate should be eligible for licensure with the  College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
  • Candidate should be team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.
  • All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; in accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
  • The SHA requires a satisfactory criminal record check (CRC) with vulnerable sector check (VSC) dated within the past six (6) months.

Additional Information

Remuneration:

For Moose Jaw, Lloydminster, North Battleford, Prince Albert, Regina, and Swift Current, the rates are:
In-Province Locums: $3,000/day guarantee via Fee For Service Billings
Out-of-Province Locums: $4,000/day* flat rate.

For Saskatoon, the rates for the period of April 1, 2026 - June 30, 2026 are:
In-Province Locums: $3,000/day guarantee via Fee For Service Billings
Out-of-Province Locums: $4,000/day* flat rate.

For Saskatoon, the rates starting July 1, 2026 and onward are:
In-Province Locums: Fee For Service Billing
Out-of-Province Locums: $2,500/day* flat rate.

For Weyburn and Estevan, the rates are:
In-Province Locums: $2165.48 per 24 hour day
Out-of-Province Locums: $2165.48 per 24 hour day

All Sites:
On Call: Eligible for Specialist On-Call Remuneration (SECP) for those times when the after-hours call was provided, to be paid in accordance with SECP Guidelines.
Flights/travel: Standard/basic fares OR mileage at the effective out-of-scope (OOS) mileage rate of SHA for the distance travelled from the Locum’s home base to the city where providing coverage and return if the Locum is driving.
Travel Time: $20/hour for time spent engaged in travel.
Accommodation: Accommodation provided up to $200 per night.
