Saskatchewan Health Authority seeks 2 permanent fulltime General Ophthalmologists. In addition to private out-patient practice, the successful candidates will provide surgical, inpatient and emergency services at the Yorkton Regional Health Center. Itinerant ophthalmology services may be required throughout the southeast area of the province. On-call coverage is required.

Candidates must be certified or eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). The successful candidates must register with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) and be licensed to practice medicine in Saskatchewan. The physicians must maintain membership and insurance with the Canadian Medical Protective Association and be legally entitled to work in Canada. Language of work is English.
The successful applicant may apply for the Specialist Recruitment Incentive offered through the Saskatchewan Medical Association which provides $30,000 to an eligible Specialist that establishes a practice for a minimum of 36 months in a Saskatchewan community.
Equipment funding and Residency/Fellowship Training funding may be available through the Hospital Foundation of South Central Saskatchewan in exchange for a Return for Service. Inquire for details. Residents in years 3-5 are encouraged to reach out prior to completion of their program to discuss residency funding options.
The City of Yorkton is located in the southeast area of the province, with a population just under 20,000 people. The referral population for our specialty services is approximately 100,000; the area extends itself north, south and east across the Manitoba border. Over 50 Family Physicians and about a dozen Optometrists may do referrals to this specialty.
