The provincial health authority, in the South East Area - Yorkton, Saskatchewan is seeking applicants for two permanent General Ophthalmologist Specialists. The position, available December 2019, will consist of operating room, in-patient surgical services, emergency room consultations and on-call. Option for a private practice out-patient clinic exists in the community; further details are available for interested candidates.
The successful candidates will provide surgical services from the Yorkton Regional Health Center. Itinerant ophthalmology services may be required throughout the southeast area of the province. On-call coverage is required.
Relocation Assistance may be available from the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
The successful applicant may apply for the Specialist Recruitment Incentive offered through the Saskatchewan Medical Association which provides $30,000 to an eligible Specialist that establishes a practice for a minimum of 36 months in a Saskatchewan community.
Saskatchewan Health Authority, South East Area, with its Regional Health Centre in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, requires 2 General Ophthalmologists who are certified or eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). The successful candidates must register with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) and be licensed to practice medicine in Saskatchewan. The physicians must maintain membership and insurance with the Canadian Medical Protective Association and be legally entitled to work in Canada. Language of work is English.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required to become a member of Practitioner Staff and provide care in Saskatchewan Health Authority facilities.
The City of Yorkton is located in the south east area of the province, with a population just under 20,000 people. The referral population for our specialty services is approximately 100,000; the area extends itself north, south and east across the Manitoba border. Over 50 Family Physicians and about a dozen Optometrists may do referrals to this specialty. Currently, the following specialty services are provided:
