Job Description

Exciting Opportunity for a Collaborative and Passionate Ophthalmologist (FRCSC)

Join a supportive, forward-thinking team in the heart of Saskatchewan – with a brand-new hospital on the horizon.
We’re looking for a team-oriented and professional ophthalmologist (FRCSC) to join our well-established, independent fee-for-service, community-based ophthalmology practice in beautiful Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a fulfilling and meaningful practice, alongside a small but vibrant division of dedicated specialists with diverse sub-specialty interests.

Why Join Us?

  • Team-Based Care: Collaborate with two experienced ophthalmologists in a collegial and supportive environment.
  • Autonomy and Impact: Practise independently while contributing meaningfully to a growing healthcare community.
  • Diverse Case Mix: Serve a broad patient population and build a sub-specialty practice of your own.
  • Academic Involvement: The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) partners with the University of Saskatchewan to support medical learners — teaching opportunities are available if desired.
  • New Hospital Coming Ssoon: A brand-new hospital is currently under construction, promising a state-of-the-art work environment and enhanced facilities in the near future — a major step forward for care delivery in the region.
  • Lifestyle Balance: Enjoy a low cost of living, short commutes, and access to pristine lakes, forests, and four-season outdoor recreation.
Practice Details:
  • Based out of the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital, serving a population of 80,000 across northern and northeastern Saskatchewan.
  • Work closely with The Eye Centre, an integrated unit that partners with hospital departments, external agencies, and allied health professionals to ensure exceptional patient care. May provide some work in Regina, SK
  • Call Schedule: 1:4, Monday to Monday (08:00–08:00), including emergency and after-hours coverage; a separate rotation exists for long weekends.
  • Compensation: Independent fee-for-service, plus eligibility for an on-call retainer through the Specialist Emergency Coverage Program.

Relocation Package

$25,000 to new Ophthalmologists relocating to Prince Albert for a three year return of service.
