Job Description

A rewarding fee-for-service, community based practice opportunity for a specialist to practice General and or Therapeutic Gastroenterology awaits you in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Regina gastroenterology program is very progressive and maintains state-of-the-art equipment such as high definition endoscopes, endoscopic ultrasound, double balloon enteroscopy, capsule endoscopy and an x-ray facility in our GI Unit.

Gastroenterology services are based out of the Pasqua Hospital & Regina General Hospital, which are recognized for provision of quality health care in several specialized areas. Highly qualified physicians and staff, along with advanced diagnostic equipment, have enabled the Gastroenterology program to stay in the forefront.

On call duties and endoscopy time will be shared with other members of the Division of Gastroenterology.

The University of Saskatchewan is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training. The successful applicant is expected to participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Department of Medicine and Division of Gastroenterology in the Regina Area and will be appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan.

Job Qualifications

Applicants must have completed a subspecialty residency-training program in Gastroenterology, accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent. A special interest in nutrition support and/or hepatology would be preferred. Applicants should be eligible for regular licensure to practice in Saskatchewan as determined by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS).

This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
