Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority, Swift Current is looking for a psychiatrist to join our Mental Health team. You would be working with an excellent team based group that includes two other psychiatrists and other Mental Health professionals. This contracted position offers clinical work, in-patient consultations and emergency room coverage. On-call responsibilities are shared between the three psychiatrists. Office space and support staff are provided by the Region.

Swift Current is a city of 17,000 people serving approximately 50,000 people in the surrounding area. We are located a short drive from larger Canadian cities (Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina). Arts, sporting events, and outdoor activities (camping, hunting, fishing) are major recreational pursuits. 30 minutes north of Swift Current is the Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park, which straddles the west end of Lake Diefenbaker and offers ample opportunity for boating and fishing. The city itself is very family oriented and offers a safe and relaxed lifestyle with all the amenities of a much larger city. In addition, Swift Current boasts some of the mildest winters in Saskatchewan.

Job Qualifications

Successful candidates will hold certification or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry. Individuals must be eligible for provisional or regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
