Job Description

Leader has an excellent opportunity for a motivated family physician interested in building a successful medical practice while working closely with other health care professionals in Southwest Saskatchewan. This is a contracted position where the physicians will join another physician and a Nurse Practitioner, as part of a central primary care team to deliver health services to the communities and a visiting clinic in nearby Cabri. Call responsibilities are 1:3 and emergency on-call services are remunerated as per ERCP (Emergency Room Compensation Program) rates set by the Medical Services Branch, Saskatchewan Health. Leader has a community hospital with a Category B emergency coverage designation, a 35 bed LTC facility and a range of mental and community health services in our newly opened fully integrated facility.

This opportunity is eligible to receive the Rural Physician Incentive Program of up to $200,000!

Job Qualifications

This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

The candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Successful applicants will be eligible for a provisional or regular license to practice in Saskatchewan. Applicants will also hold ACLS certification.

In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.

Additional Information

Leader is a rural community with a population of roughly 1000 people serving an area population of around 4000. With some of the best farmland in the country, agriculture is the main industry of the area, although the region has benefited from a recent boom in oil and gas exploration activity. The town is one of the sunniest places in North America with 2350 hours of sunshine and an average precipitation of 79 cm of snow and 25.5 cm of rain per year.

The community boasts many amenities of rural living in Saskatchewan, including an 9-hole golf course, skating and curling rinks, an outdoor swimming pool, ball diamonds and hunting and fishing locations with the South Saskatchewan river just minutes north. Just over an hours drive south of the town is the beautiful Cypress Hills Provincial Park, an ideal location for fishing, hiking and camping. Leader is located about one hour from Medicine Hat, three hours from Saskatoon, four hours from Regina and four hours from Calgary, all of which have airports.
