Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is looking for a Family Medicine Anesthetist in Weyburn, SK to join an established group of primary care physicians. The incumbent is responsible for providing anesthesia, clinic shifts, outpatient, inpatient, emergency, long-term care, and on-call services, with possible travel to surrounding communities to provide itinerant clinics. Candidates will also have the option to teach residents and medical students completing clinical placements/rotations in Weyburn.

Relocation Package

The successful candidate may be eligible for:

  • The Rural Physician Incentive Program (RPIP) which provides up to $200,000 over five years to family physicians practicing, or returning to practice, in rural and remote communities in Saskatchewan
  • The SMA Retention Fund, which provides financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $3,500 - $7,000

Job Qualifications

  • Certified or eligible to be certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Acceptable enhanced training in anesthesia (i.e. 3rd year residency in Family Physician Anesthesia)
  • Regular or Provisional License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) (or eligible to be licensed)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Recommended - Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Valid driver license
  • Successful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector
  • Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada
