Job Description
The Medical Director of UCC Development Regina will report to the Lead of UCC Operations in the Regina Area.
The Medical Director of UCC Development Regina, will function collaboratively with UCC Regina project team members to:
- Participate in advisory committees that are related to UCC Regina
- Represent and communicate project and operational issues/goals to operational and clinical leaders, clinicians, and Ministry
- Lead, promote and effectively articulate to frontline physicians and clinicians the vision of the UCC Regina programs/services and how the UCC will influence and improve safe, quality client care
- Develop coalitions, work effectively with internal SHA stakeholder, and draw on expertise in the community, to help establish the multi-disciplinary clinical care model of the UCC Regina, including defining the role of family physicians and emergency room trained physician provider (Community Physicians, Network Leads, Network Leads, 811HealthLine, etc)
- Work collaboratively to recommend diagnostic and clinical procedures available at the UCC Regina and develop protocols related to the same
- Identify training all members of the multi-disciplinary care team will undertake
- Build, through engagement, collaboration and support, a network of committed and motivated physicians and clinicians to work in the UCC Regina
- Create and sustain a workplace environment that fosters the application of evidence informed practice, compliance with regulations and accreditation standards, utilization of clinical research, and management of risk and adverse events in collaboration with corporate resources
- Upon opening of the UCC Regina, assist with implementation of clinical services and service/program evaluation
- Review any complaints, as requested, concerning the provision of clinical care by the UCC services physician team
- Review patient care reports and audits by following up on reviews, as required or requested by the SHA
- Upon request of the SHA, participate in quality improvement and performance measurement initiatives and recommend measurement tools to the Director and Managers responsible for UCC Regina
- Develop and demonstrate leadership capabilities and commitment to the culture of client first continuous learning
- Lead and engage with UCC Leadership, as well as internal stakeholders and community organizations to develop an environment of cultural competence, focused on Truth and Reconciliation
- Other duties as mutually agreed to between the Medical Director and the Authority
Job Qualifications
- Licensed medical practitioner in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS)
- Canadian Certified Physician Executive Credential would be an asset
- Advanced education in Health Care Administration, Public Administration and/or Leadership Studies would be an asset
- Participation in the Canadian Medical Association’s Physician Leadership Institute would be an asset
- Additional training and/or education in leadership/management would be an asset
- Experience, at an operational level, as a medical leader who has worked in partnership with administrative leaders to develop and lead innovative planning and programs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
- Has knowledge of and experience in guiding health quality improvement processes and initiatives
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
